Bluehost Performance Tests
To get a faster website, you’ll need to choose a fast web hosting company. With that in mind, we created a test site to see how fast Bluehost really is.
Our test site was built with WordPress with the default Twenty Twenty theme. We imported dummy theme development content including images. Next, we used Pingdom to test the site’s speed.
Here are our test results:
As you can see, our test site loads in less than 2 seconds. Given the fact that our website wasn’t using any buffering plugins or speed improvement tips, this result is pretty impressive.
However, the speed test alone is not enough as this test site did not have a large volume of visits.
To test how Bluehost’s servers respond with increased traffic, we used a test tool called K6 (formerly known as LoadImpact) to send virtual users (VUs) to our test site.
We used it to gradually build up to 100 visitors to see how the server would handle the growing requests from multiple connections simultaneously.
This is a screenshot of our results.
Bluehost server response time
When you test a website live with tools like Pingdom, you basically see how everything loads on your website. This also includes images, which take longer to load than regular text.
In order to get a more accurate server response time, we used another tool called Bitcatcha. It allows you to test the server’s response time without uploading any data.
As you can see, Bluehost’s server in the US performs in a split second. At other sites, the response was slightly higher but still less than a second.
If your target audience is in the US, then this will benefit your website. However, if more users are coming from other parts of the world, you can change your server location.
